Conjunction of Mars & Venus

Last year I wrote an article “Who will be astrologer?” on the time line of my facebook and then I posted this article to various facebook groups and I also posted this article on the timeline of my page and recently I posted it to a group Astrology at Google+

In that post I have mentioned a combination that conjunction of Mara & Venus in one’s horoscope makes one good astrologer.

In that group at Google+ it was asked by the moderator of that group why the conjunction of Mars & Venus present in one’s horoscope makes one an astrologer? I replied in that group at Google+ and here I am giving below that article written by me as a reply of that question about the Mars & Venus conjunction:

First of all I want to share something from my experience of about 25 years in the field of Vedic astrology and what I understood from Vedic astrology:

(1) Vedic astrology recommends three types of results of any conjunction, aspect or situation of planets

(1.1) Results of planetary relationship affecting one physically

(1.2) Results of planetary relationship affecting one mentally

(1.3) Results of planetary relationship affecting one spiritually

The very first thing in Vedic astrology is to decide the strength of any horoscope in terms of physical, mental or spiritual levels and if any horoscope is found rich in mental strength then the malefic results expected to come out from malefic combinations such Sun & Rahu or Moon & Rahu or any other malefic combination affecting one mentally does not work.

If any horoscope under judgment is found to possess strength at spiritual level then the person concerned has a power to see something beyond the level of science or beyond his level of intelligence too and in such case malefic combinations like Sun & Rahu or Moon & Ketu gives him enlightenment.

If any horoscope under judgment is found rich at physical level only then the combination like Sun & Rahu or Moon & Rahu gives him troubles, dipression or may be problems related to eyes.
Here I mean to say that every combination displays three types of results depending on the overall strength of horoscope. So we see that different results are assigned to the same combination of planets at different levels of strength in Vedic astrology.

In year 1991 or so I came across several horoscopes in them I saw the conjunction of Mars and Venus and those people were Sages, astrologers or spiritualists and I was very much puzzled. It was my surprise when I saw this conjunction of Mars and Venus in the horoscope of world famous Indian Vedic astrologer Dr. B.V. Raman but I was surprised at that time no one talked about this combination and even that great Dr. B. V. Raman was also silent and did not talk about this conjunction and this further confused and puzzled me.

And soon I saw this combination in an ancient text on Vedic astrology and the following Sanskrit sloka about the conjunction of Mars and Venus is from that text:

गुणप्रधानो गणको द्यूतानृतरतः शठः
परदाररतो मान्यः शुक्रमंगलसंगमे
In above Sanskrit sloka:
गुणप्रधानो (Gunapradhano) = having many qualities
गणको (Ganako) = Astrologer
द्यूतानृतरतः (Dueetaanritah) = Indulge in gambling
शठः (Shatah) = Cunning
परदाररतो (Pardaarrato) = takes interest in others wife
मान्यः (Manyah) = Respected
शुक्रमंगलसंगमे (Shukra Mangal sangme) = Conjunction of Venus and Mars

Summing up the English translation of above sloka becomes:

Any person having the conjunction of Venus and Mars in his horoscope is of many qualities, astrologer, indulge in gambling, cunning, interested in others wife and respected.

I also found this conjunction of Mars & Venus working well in Divisional charts such as D9, D20 and D5

There are some more results written about this conjunction of Mars & Venus in other Vedic texts and I am giving some of them:

The person having the conjunction of Mars & Venus in his horoscope is bold in fight and is deceitful. He protects cows and he is a wrestler.

This conjunction of Mars & Venus is supposed to give different results in different houses and these results are given below:

In first House: The person having this conjunction of Mars & Venus in first house suffers from kapha, performs aimless works, unthankful and without victory.

In second house: The person having this conjunction of Mars & Venus in second house suffers in fresh air, without wisdom, tough in behavior and does not speak truth.

In third house: The person having this conjunction of Mars and Venus in third house is experts in various handicrafts, religious, pilgrim and a musician.

In forth house: The person having conjunction of Mars & Venus in forth house knows different kinds of arts, of bad character, sexy, less educated and suffers from food.

In fifth house: The person having conjunction of Mars & Venus in fifth house has strong feeling of enmity, defeated by wicked person, wanderer and does not pay respect to guru, teacher and intellectuals.

In sixth house: The person having conjunction of Mars & Venus in sixth house is fond of beautiful ladies, suffers defeat at the hands of his wife, sinner, of good intelligence, likes the company of wicked person and without the morals and conduct prescribed in Vedas.

In seventh house: The person having the conjunction of Mars and Venus in seventh house suffers defeat by public, poor, suffers physically in various accidents and he does not follow the law.

In eighth house: The person having this conjunction of Mars & Venus in 8th house always performs bad acts, steals others moneys by showing acts of kindness, without strength and he is stupid.

In ninth house: The person having this conjunction of Mars & Venus in ninth house is religious, shows respects to guests, handsome, liked by everyone, chief of his family and he follows certain rules.

In tenth house: The person having the conjunction of Mars & Venus in tenth house possesses food in various forms, intents to live near religious places, always in good mood and kind to everyone.

In eleventh house: The person having the conjunction of Mars & Venus in eleventh house strongly follows certain rules, gets diksha from guru, possesses all-round knowledge, enthusiastic, talented and kind hearted.

In twelfth house: The person having the conjunction of Mars & Venus in twelfth house he is without plenty of wealth, suffers at the hands of his children, he does not give donations, suffers from various diseases, inferior and unthankful.

The aforesaid results about the conjunction of Mars & Venus in various houses is applicable only when Chalit – Chakra system of house division of Vedic system is applied and these results are vey general and should be applied after judging the horoscope minutely. Learners and researchers of Vedic astrology will find these results of the conjunction of Mars & Venus very useful.

So in Vedic astrology this conjunction is supposed to give different results at different levels.

Vedic astrology depends on Vedas and Vedic literature and to know the depth of Vedic astrology the understanding of Vedas and Vedic literature is essential. Now I am explaining why this conjunction of Mars & Venus in any horoscope makes one expert astrologer:

Mars is ruled by Kaartikey the god of war and the son of lord Shiva as per Vedic literature. Kaartikey wrote a text on the knowledge of past, present and future and the psychology of person including various signs appearing on human body and his written text was rejected by lord Shiva and then accepted when lord Shiva found his written text filled with astrological knowledge. So Mars (Kaartikey) without knowledge (Jupiter or Venus) is warrior. So Mars to become astrologer he needs a support of a guru (Knowledge) and in plants Jupiter (Guru of devtas) and Venus (Guru of daanvas but respected by devtas too) are Guru and that is why Mars & Venus conjunction makes one an expert astrologer.

More About Ekadashansh

Perhaps the learners of Vedic astrology do not aware of this chart and this chart does not exist in the shodashvarga scheme. The reference of this chart is found in Tajik Neelkanthi  i.e. a text based on vedic astrology. Years before in an astrological magazine I read that this chart is used to judge the financial prospects of any person. Since then I started using this chart and found this chart very amazing in giving the clear picture about the financial prospects of any person. Similarly any combination of poverty in this chart makes one to suffer from huge financial crises.

Any Dhana yoga if present in this chart becomes powerful. This chart also gives clear idea about sudden gains and gains with no pains. The following points should be noted while predicting through this chart.

(1)    Exchange between 2nd & 11th lord in this D11 chart forms a powerful Dhana yoga and if D11 lagna lord is also in either of these houses than this Dhana yoga becomes more powerful.

(2)     Lord of lagna, 2nd or 11th if present in the 6th house of D11 chart indicates the huge debts or debts taken by person concerned and sufferings on this account.

(3)    If there is exchange between 2nd lord and 6th lord in D11 chart than in the dasha / antardasha of 2nd lord or planets associated with it there will be huge mental stress due to non payments of loans and in the dasha / antardasha of 6th lord or planets associated with 6th lord there is incoming of finances through taking loans. So care should be taken while taking loans if in anyone’s horoscope such yoga is present.

(4)    Beneficially disposed planets in 8th house of this D11 chart motivates one to take loans and also give one to pay back all his debts.

(5)    In this D11 chart 2nd lord in 8th house sometimes gives hidden wealth or sudden gains.

(6)    Exchange between 2nd and 8th lords in this D11 chart gives one sudden gains through gifts etc but on the other hand motivates one to take loans.

(7)    Exchange between 3rd and 5th lords in D11 charts gives wealth in the form of gifts on account of one’s skills.

(8)    Planets in 12th house in D11 charts indicate expenditures and wasteful expenditures.

(9)    Exchange between 2nd and 4th lord also indicate gain of money on account of selling assets or ornaments provided lord of D11 lagna is in 2nd but if in 4th house it indicate placing of money in some place in the house but not in bank.

The above rules are based on my years of experience in the field of Vedic astrology and I write them for the benefits of learners and researchers of Vedic astrology. It is the very simple way to use D11 chart.

Part (02)

Actually there are two types of D11 charts:

(1) In one you will find Rahu & Ketu in the state of conjunction

(2) In second form of D11 chart the Rahu & Ketu always oppose each other and this type of chart is given in Tajik Neelkanthi a Vedic astrological text on Varshphal. So this type of D11 chart is only used to judge one's financial attainments.

It is not given in any ancient book on Vedic astrology about the use of D11 chart and not in Tajik Neelkanthi too.

If the planets forming rina yoga in D11 charts as described by me in that post are found vakri then huge debts taken by any person in such  conditions of planets will make the overall atmosphere of that person very tough and he will suffer on account of taking those huge loans and one situation may like this he will have money to repay but he will not be able to pay back his loans and many similar conditions.

Who Will Be Astrologer?

Some years ago there was no separate career of astrology. This was taken as an alternate profession. Now the complexion has totally changed. Astrology became full-fledged career like other careers. Now a very big question appears who will be astrologer?

The person interested in making career in astrology should get his horoscope examined by a competent astrologer. There are many combinations of planets which make one astrologer. I am giving below some of them which are mentioned in ancient books on Indian astrology:

(1)    A malefic planet in 10th house from Moon having aspects of benefic planets makes one astrologer.

(2)    Ketu is placed in 3rd, 9th or 11th house from kaarkansh lagna makes one expert in astrology.

(3)    Mercury in 4th house or in 2nd house along with Sun.

(4)    Moon in Mithun, Simh or Dhanur rashi having the aspect of Mercury on it.

(5)    Jupiter is in Mithun or Kanya rashi having the aspect of Mercury on it.

(6)    Conjunction of Mars & Venus also makes one good astrologer.

In my long experience in the field of astrology I have found vinshansh & panchmansh charts useful in judging the predictive capabilities of a person. Vinshansh Chakra is used to judge spiritual attainments & Panchmansh Chakra is used to judge philosophical prospects.

In my experience in the field of astrology I have found the following combinations if present in either vinshansh or in panchmansh charts make one astrologer, spiritualist or an occultist:

(1)    If in vinshansh chart its lagna comes under the aspect of Mercury and same condition applies to panchmansh chart. This makes one astrologer.

(2)    If Jupiter occupies the lagna of vinshansh chart or panchmansh charts.

(3)    The exchange between lord of lagna and that of 5th in either of the charts.

(4)    The exchange between lord of lagna and that of 9th in either of the charts.

(5)    The exchange between lord of Second and that of 9th in either of the charts.

(6)    Mercury is in 5th house in either of the charts.

(7)    Any one of 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses of either of the charts is occupied by its own lord.

The strong position of Mercury in any horoscope makes one ज्योतिषी and the strong position of Jupiter in any horoscope makes one दैवज्ञ. It is interesting to note that दैवज्ञ is always superior to ज्योतिषी

Why Ketu is like Mars & Rahu like Saturn?

Every one using Vedic astrology for predictions knows that Ketu is like Mars & Rahu is like Saturn but most of them are not aware why is it so? In Vedic astrology every statement is supported by logic or a proof. The proof of every statement used in Vedic astrology may be based on common sense, natural laws or texts on Vedic literature.

So there must be some reasoning behind this statement about Rahu & Ketu. Now I am going to explain it in a very interesting way and the explanation is as follows:

(1) Ketu does not have lordship over any sign of zodiac it has ruler ship over Ashwani, Magha & Moola Nakshatras.

(2) Rahu does not have lordship over any sign it has ruler ship over Ardra, Swati & Shatbhisa Nakshatras.

(3) All the nakshatras ruled by Ketu come under Mesh, Simh & Dhanur rashi respectively

(4) All the Nakshatras ruled by Rahu come under Mithun, Tula & Kumbh rashi respectively

(5) Mesh, Simh & Dhanur are fiery sign so all the Nakshatras of Ketu come under fiery rashi

(6) Mithun, Tula & Kumbh are airy signs so all the Nakshatras of Rahu come under airy rashi

(7) The fiery planets are Sun & Mars and Sun being luminary so cannot be compared with shadow planet so the only fiery planet is Mars and Ketu is also known as Anal (Fire) and that is why Ketu is like Mars.

(8) The only airy planet is Saturn and that is why Rahu is like Saturn
The following sloka is from ancient text on Vedic astrology:

अंगारकफलं केतो राहोरप्यर्कजस्य वै । ( Angarkphalam Keto Rahorpyarkjasya vee ।)

The meaning of above Sanskrit sloka is that Ketu is similar to Mars in giving the effect and Rahu is similar to Saturn in giving effects.

How to Predict About A Particular Day? Written By Vishal Aksh

This question is generally asked about how a day is predicted astrologically. Is there any simple rule to predict this? This question appears to be simple but the answer to this question is not simple. In fact nothing is simple while predicting through astrology.

The following are the simple rules given in classical Vedic astrology to find out the results for any particular day. These are very useful.

First ascertain the result giving capabilities of the prevailing mahadasha. If mahadasha is found to be effective for benefice / malefic giving results then these results benefic / malefic occurs:

(1)  In the weekdays ruled by mahadasha lord e.g. if the effective dasha going on is of Moon than one may gets its benefic / malefic results on Mondays. The same results should be applied for effective antardasha & pratyantardasha.

(2) The days ruled by the Nakshatras of mahadasha lord e.g. if the effective mahadasha going on is of Saturn than one may gets its benefic / malefic results on the days ruled by the Saturn’s Nakshatra such as Pushya, Anuradha & Uttarbhadrapad. The same results should be applied for effective antardasha & pratyantardasha.

(3) When Moon transits the exaltation sign of benefic effect giving dasha lord the good results of the mahadasha exist within its transit e.g. if the mahadasha of well disposed Sun is going on than its benefic results exists when Moon transits Mesh rashi i.e. the exaltation sign of Sun. Whatever has been said about this transit should equally applied to effective antardasha & pratyantardasha.

(4) When Moon transits over 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th house with respect to benefic results giving mahadasha lord the result is good otherwise there will be adverse results. While in its mentioned benefic transit with respect to mahadasha lord this Moon represents certain house from Lagna and the benefic effect of that represented house will come to pass e.g. if benefic effect giving Dasha of Jupiter is going on and transits 11th house with respect to this mahadasha lord Jupiter representing 10th house from lagna then this benefic transit of Moon gives the benefic result of 10th house i.e. career. In this way the benefic & malefic results of any house in a horoscope are estimated. The same thing should be applied in case of effects giving antardasha & pratyantardasha.
Moon transits a sign of zodiac with about 2.25 so the results attributed to the transit of Moon in (3) and (4) comes to within a period of 2.25 days.

Irrespective of mahadasha / antardasha this Moon also gives benefice results while transiting through 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th houses with respect to its natal position provided no planets except Mercury transit the corresponding Vedha places, i.e. 5th, 9th, 12th, 2nd, 4th & 8th.

In Varshphal, annual horoscope is cast to predict about a year, Month horoscope to predict about the month and Day horoscope to predict about a day. This is very wonderful scheme in Vedic astrology to predict about a year, month and a day.

The predictions about any day can be given on the basis of Vedic horary astrology i.e. prashan Kundli. Is someone puts a question concerning the benefic or malefic nature of a particular day then the position of Moon in the horoscopes cast at sunrise and sunset of that day is to be judged and if Moon is found to be well disposed in both the horoscopes then that day will be very good and the day concerned will be adverse if the positions of Moon found otherwise.

In my long experience in the field of astrology I have found aforesaid rules very general in nature and they are in the form of raw materials. Only research work along with experience is required to refine them. A person with deep knowledge of astrology can understand it.

More About Dashaphala

The most important feature of Vedic Jyotish to know the time of the fructification of events stored in one’s horoscope is the Dasha. There are various dasha described in the ancient texts on Vedic Jyotish but nowadays only Vinshottri dasha, Yogini Dasha, Ashttotri Dasha & Kaalchakra Dasha are used widely out of them. The Dasha are highly regarded in ancient texts on Vedic Jyotish and supposed to give Karmaphala and that is why the nature of Dasha is described from various angles and the pattern of Dashaphala is given below:

(1) Sampurna Dasha:

When any planet is found powerful in Shadbala & occupies exaltation degrees of its exaltation sign then the Dasha of such planet is known as Sampurna Dasha.

But this definition of Sampurna dasha needs extension because only indication is given in its actual definition. Today we have defined life style in very manner and to become successful in life any one should have (1) Sound health to do works suited to his age group, (2) Perfect mental balance and presence of mind to get much success than desired, (3) Higher academic qualification, (4) Excellent profession and successes in it, (5) Supporting life partner, (6) Good children, (7) Excellent earnings and (8) Assets

So when any planet with 8 benefic points in its Ashtakavarga and 40 or more than 40 benefice points in Sarvashtakavarga is found to be well disposed in D30, D6 & D8 charts(Sound health), D27 Chart (mental balance and presence of mind), D24 Chart (education), D10 Chart (profession), D9 Chart ( life partner), D7 Chart (Children), D11 Chart (earning and incoming of finances) & D16 Chart (assets) then its Dasha should also be known as Sampurna Dasha and my experience of about 25 years in the field of Vedic Jyotish confirms it.

In Yogini dasha system the dasha of Mangala (Moon), Dhaanya (Jupiter), Bhadrika (Mercury) and Siddha (Venus) when well disposed according to aforesaid extension prove to be Sampurna Dasha.

Sampurna Dasha gives vast prosperity.

(2) Purna Dasha:

If a planet is found less powerful in its Shadbla and occupies exaltation sign then this Dasha is known as Purna Dasha.

The above definition of Purna dasha needs further extension:
A planet having more than 4 benefic points but less than 8 benefic points in its Ashtakavarga and more than 30 benefic points but less than 40 benefic points in Sarvashtakavarga and well disposed according to extended view as described under heading Sampurna Dasha should also be known as Purna Dasha.

In Yogini dasha system the dasha of Mangala (Moon), Dhaanya (Jupiter), Bhadrika (Mercury) and Siddha (Venus) when well disposed according to aforesaid extension prove to be Purna Dasha.

The Purna Dasha of planet gives prosperity.

(3) Aarohini Dasha:

If a planet occupies debilitated sign with within its depression degrees and moving towards exaltation Navansh then this Dasha period is known as Aarohini Dasha.

An adversely disposed planet with zero benefic point in its AshtakaVarga and less than 21 benefic points in Sarvashtakavarga and strongly disposed in aforesaid divisional charts then its Dasha should also be treated as Aarohini Dasha.

In Yogini dasha system the dasha of Mangala (Moon), Dhaanya (Jupiter), Bhadrika (Mercury) and Siddha (Venus) when well disposed according to aforesaid extension prove to be Aarohini Dasha.

Aarohini Dasha produces prosperity like Purna Dasha.

(4) Madhyama Dasha:

When a planet is found to leave its exaltation degrees and moving towards its depression Navansh than this Dasha is known as Madhyama Dasha.

Planet with 40 or more than 40 benefic points in SarvashtakaVarga with more than 4 but less than 8 benefic points in its Ashtakavarga and adversely disposed in the aforesaid divisional charts should also be known as Madhyama Dasha.

In Yogini dasha system the dasha of Mangala (Moon), Dhaanya (Jupiter), Bhadrika (Mercury) and Siddha (Venus) when well disposed according to aforesaid extension prove to be Madhyama Dasha.

Madhyama Dasha is supposed to give less prosperity

(5) Mishraphala Dasha:

There are two types of Mishraphala Dasha :

(1) When a debilitated planet or adversely disposed occupies exalted Navansh

(2) When an exalted planet or well disposed planet occupies debilitated Navansh

Dasha of a planet with less than 4 benefic points in its Ashtakavarga and less than 28 points in Sarvashtakavarga but well disposed in aforesaid divisional charts should also be known as Misharaphala Dasha.

Dasha of a planet with 8 benefic points in its Ashtakavarga and 40 or more than 40 benefic points in Sarvashtakavarga found adversely disposed in aforesaid divisional Charts should also be known as Mishraphala Dasha.

In Yogini Dasha Pingla (Sun), Bhramari (Mars), Ulka (Saturn) or Sankata (Rahu) when becomes well disposed in divisional charts as explained aforesaid then this Yogini Dasha should be treated as Mishraphala Dasha.

In Yogini dasha system the dasha of Mangala (Moon), Dhaanya (Jupiter), Bhadrika (Mercury) and Siddha (Venus) when adversly disposed according to aforesaid extension prove to be Mishraphala Dasha.

Mishraphala Dasha gives mixture of good and bad results

(6) Avrohini Dasha:

The Dasha period of a planet leaving the exaltation degrees of its exaltation sign and moving towards debilitation sign is known as Avrohini Dasha

Avrohini Dasha is supposed to produce adverse results.

(7) Adhama Dasha:

While so moving as described under heading (6) any planet occupies debilitated Navansh then such dasha is known as Adhma Dasha

The planet with 40 or more benefic point in Sarvashtakavarga with 4 benefic points in its Ashtakavarga and adversely disposed in divisional charts as described aforesaid then its Dasha should be treated as Adhama Dasha

In Yogini Dasha Pingla (Sun), Bhramari (Mars), Ulka (Saturn) or Sankata (Rahu) when becomes well disposed in main chart and adversely disposed in divisional charts mentioned above then such Yogini dasha should be treated as Adhama Dasha.

Adhama Dasha gives destruction and least prosperity.

(8) Rikta Dasha:

The Dasha of a planet occupying depression degrees in its debilitated sign is known as Rikta Dasha.

In Yogini Dasha Pingla (Sun), Bhramari (Mars), Ulka (Saturn) or Sankata (Rahu) when becomes adversely disposed in main chart in their debilitation sign then this Yogini Dasha should be treated as Rikta Dasha.

Rikta Dasha gives miseries and poverty

(9) Anishta Dasha:

When in the condition described for Rikta Dasha the planet occupies debilitated Navansh then such Dasha is known as Anishta Dasha

In Yogini Dasha Pingla (Sun), Bhramari (Mars), Ulka (Saturn) or Sankata (Rahu) when becomes adversely disposed in main chart as well as in concerned divisional charts then this Yogini Dasha should be treated as Anishta Dasha.

Anishta Dasha gives miseries, poverty and all round destruction in each and every walk of life.

So the nature of Dasha should be judged very minutely as described above before giving any prediction.

What Is Sade Sati?

In the following article Sade-Sati is explained: -

This is the most controversial thing among the astrologers and common people of India following Vedic system of astrology.

A big question mark appears before Sade-Sati. Some learned are of the view that sade-sati is like a curse and predicting any good within this period is not advisable. Other learned are of the opinion that sade-sati is effect less. The common people who follow the astrological path get confused by these two prevailing views about sade-sati.

In my experience of many years in the field of astrology I have found sade-sati both effective & less effective. It is very difficult for an amateur astrologer to predict on the basis of sade-sati in advance.

But on the contrary when a sufferer comes and astrologer finds the phase of sade-sati working then he immediately injects the fear of sade-sati and thereby making him weaker & weaker. Instead of vaccinating so many remedies are prescribed and the poor person apart of following them gets punctured.

On the other hand a Sade-Sati sufferer appears before a research minded astrologer. He at once makes him fearless by saying sade-sati is effect less. So be sure nothing is going to be adverse. Both dasha & antar dasha are good and transit of Jupiter is favorable. So rest assured. But unfortunately in 3 to 6 months the person becomes bankrupt, meets with an accident and his entire business comes to standstill.

In above mentioned one case the person becomes mentally punctured and in second case the result needs not to be mentioned. In either case it was the person who suffered on account of astrologers in the phase of sade-sati.

Now a big question further arises how does a common person estimate that he should approach to a good astrologer in the phase of sade-sati?

Before that it will be better to understand the logic behind sade-sati. The sade-sati is nothing but the transit of Saturn from 12th, 1st & 2nd houses from one’s rashi. Saturn roughly takes 2.5 years to transit a rashi. In sade-sati it will take 2.5*3=7.5 years to transit these three consecutive signs there by it is known as sade-sati.

In astrology Moon is treated as water and presides over मन. In other words there is astrological relationship between मन & जल. To make it more clear look at still water pond and simultaneously feel the मन. In still water pond a small air current creates disturbances in water. In water pond whether it is a small air current or something falling into the water pond result in the disturbances in the surface of water. Just like water pond filled with water the मन is filled with emotions & desires.

So, any negative or positive feeling, affect the मन. Hence the मन is a pond of emotions & desires. Thus astrologically water pond model fits Moon.

Following this rule, in astrology, the transit of every planet except Moon & Venus on one’s Moon sign is treated as inauspicious and results in emotional disturbances & non fulfillment of one’s desires. Moon & Venus are supposed to be watery planets and water easily mixes with water hence transit of Moon & Venus over Moon sign is considered as auspicious.

Further all planets transiting 12th sign from one’s Moon sign give inauspicious results except Venus. All the benefices like Jupiter, Venus & Mercury except Moon give good results and all the malefic like Saturn, Mars & Sun give bad results while transiting 2nd sign from one’s Moon sign.

It is clear from above, that malefic planets, such as Saturn, Mars & Sun while transiting through 12th, 1st & 2nd signs from one’s Moon sign give adverse results. Among the malefic planets Sun transits a sign in 30 days, Mars in 45 days & Saturn in 2.5 year.

Sun takes 30*3=90 days to transit three consecutive sign, Mars takes 45*3= 135 days and Saturn takes 2.5*3 = 7.5 years to transit three consecutive signs.

The total time taken by Sun to transit three consecutive signs is very less i.e. only 90 days and that of Mars is 135 days which is less than half a year. Here comes what is known as will power of a person. This is the will power which strengthens the मन in astrological terms this will power strengthens the Moon.
The transit of Mars & Sun is not strong enough to disturb one’s will power & psychology and thus astrologically there is no damage to the strength of Moon.

On the other hand 7.5 years of the transit of Saturn i.e. sade-sati badly affects the emotions & psychology of a person and there by punctures the one’s will power there by crushes one’s desires.

By nature Saturn is तामसिक. It imparts its तामसिक nature to Moon in its sade-sati thus making one’s मन totally तामसिक and with this result negative feelings start evolving. The stability of मन collapses and because of this there is total inability to take full use of one’s intelligence. Thus within this period one’s major decisions of life prove fruitless.

Within Sade-Sati one’s power of judgment also crushes and thus the intellect to decide good or bad and right or wrong becomes inactive.

Then this worried, confused & unhealthy मन affects one’s health and sometimes one’s prosperity. But if the Moon (मन) is strong then sade-sati does not affect the मन much and thus there is saving of one’s physical and mental health along with one’s prosperity up to a great extent. That is why earlier I have written sade-sati is either effective or less effective. Affectless sade-sati is a rare phenomenon.

Let me explain the working of sade-sati from an old and well known story. Here I would like to write this story in brief as to make this very clear: -

Once upon a time in a jungle there lived two animals one was a rabbit and another tortoise. They never liked each other and tried their best to defame other one. Once for becoming superior both of them decided to have a race and the winner would be declared as superior.

A race was started between them. The rabbit was fast runner and that of tortoise a slow runner. The rabbit ran very fast and tortoise was slowly chasing him. After some time, rabbit was miles away from tortoise. Here is the first stage of this story where rabbit was being chased by tortoise in a race.

After going far away rabbit suddenly stopped and moved back and there was no tortoise but here only he knew that he is being chased by that tortoise. The rabbit started thinking that he had almost won the race and some formalities are still there to make him final winner. He thought it would be very good to have a rest till the arrival of tortoise and as soon as tortoise would arrive there he will again run very fast and in this way he would make tortoise further depressed. Finally rabbit took a rest under a tree situated nearby. Because of his confidence his ego touched the hike and with this effect he slept under that tree. After a long time interval the tortoise approached him and he saw the rabbit sleeping under that tree. That tortoise slowly moves ahead. The tortoise approaching the sleeping rabbit slowly is the second stage of this story.

Now the entire scene was changed the tortoise was miles away from the sleeping rabbit. When rabbit wake up he saw footprints of that tortoise nearby. He at once ran very fast and in entire he saw nothing but the footprints of that tortoise. The slow runner tortoise won the race. The slow runner tortoise became invisible to the eyes of that rabbit by leaving him behind and thus creating his own victory. It is the third stage of this story.

Perhaps everyone knows this story. If this story is judged astrologically then it wonderfully shows the working of sade-sati. Astrologically Moon presides over rabbit and Saturn presides over tortoise. In entire three stage of this story rabbit was found sleeping showing the position of radical Moon in one’s horoscope. In first stage tortoise’s chase towards sleeping rabbit shows the 12th house transit of Saturn from one’s radical Moon. In the second stage of the story, the tortoise approaching the sleeping rabbit slowly shows Saturn’s transit over one’s radical position of Moon. The third stage of this story in which slow runner tortoise becomes invisible to the eyes of the rabbit by leaving him behind and his becoming of final winner shows the transit of Saturn 2nd from the house occupied by radical Moon in one’s horoscope.

Sade-Sati is supposed to give its indications around six months before its actual commencement.

Now a day with the increasing popularity of Vedic Astrology the common people also have awareness about astrological terms and its working. On this basis the common people are classified into two groups (1) the first group belongs to those people who can understand horoscope and its patterns. (2) This second group belongs to those people who understands the general terms used in astrology but cannot understand the horoscope and its patterns.

The following are the indications of sade-sati by tracing which one may prepare oneself to approach a good astrologer. These sade-sati indications are given on the basis of above mentioned two groups.

(1)    Indications of sade-sati for group (1): - If one finds in horoscope the phase of sade-sati and in addition to that he also finds (1) the yogni dasha of ulka or sankata is going on within the period of sade-sati. (2)    Indications of sade-sati for group (2): - If one finds consecutive weekdays e.g. around 8 consecutive Saturdays, Tuesdays, Sundays or any other weekdays, in the initial phase of sade-sati, tough and some repeated bad events occurs on these weekdays then one should approach to an astrologer. IN THE ABOVE ARTICLE I HAVE NOT CRITICIZED ANY ASTROLOGER DEVOTED TO ASTROLOGY. BUT SOMEHOW THE ASTROLOGERS CRITICIZED IN ABOVE ARTICLE ARE THOSE WHO MISSLEAD THE PUBLIC AND HAVE LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ASTROLOGY.
